Around the Forest Gardens.
The photo's in this gallery show a variety of views of the forest garden and elements within it. You can see the different layers and heights of the trees, the underplanting, and some specific plants that we grow with a useful purpose, ie the New Zealand flax. We split the leaves lengthwise and use them as garden twine.
We have a small tree nursery where we grow and propagate some of our plants.

In this gallery there are photo's of some of the harvest from this year and a chair that I made from the willow grown on the land.

Work Day
In early Spring 2009 we had a work day with some of our friends. The plan was to clear brambles from an overgrown area in the new Forest Garden. We cleared the swale and the quince avenue, enjoyed the time with our friends and felt pleased to see the newly freed up avenue. A very satisfying day!

Here is an assorted collection of photo's.
The river Mondego, the only river to have its source in Portugal has some lovely lakes along its course.
There are wonderful rocks with ivy coverings and a picture of a watermine ( a natural spring flowing out between two rocks and often with a wall built to form a pool in front of it )
We built a barbeque using an old washing machine drum. This great idea came from Geoff who lives in Sutton Benger. It stands on bricks to bring it to the right height and works brilliantly. We enjoy eating outside amongst the trees with family and friends.
There is also a picture of a locally built hut, made from cana, and in daily use.
