How to visit
Volunteers: We accept helpers who apply via www.helpx.net.
It is also possible to apply directly to us through the contact form on this site. Please state what your interest is and what skills you have, plus the dates you would like to come. Note that we rarely take volunteers for less than a week.
Please note; We are currently not running tours or workshops
Visitors: At certain times of the year we are able to receive visitors who are interested in our work and want to have a look at the forest garden. Please check our open day and guided tour dates to see when this is possible.
Guided Tours last two hours and the dates are posted on the Events page.
Introduction to Forest Gardening - Open Days are usually on a Saturday, last from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm and can also be found on the Events page.
Booking in advance is necessary for these events but please contact us if you want to come and can't make the dates posted. We may be able to arrange a different time with you if you can bring a group of at least five people. However, we are no longer able to accept people who want to come outside of these times without a fee. We are just too busy.
To arrange a private fee paying visit please fill in our contact form
We are always looking for new varieties of useful/edible plants and trees, if you have seeds or plants to spare that would fit into a forest garden system we would be delighted to receive them.
Donations of money to enable us to buy more trees or other plants are, also, always welcome, we will keep a photographic record of all such trees and post them on the site.
Volunteers
We are keen to have easy going flexible people who have an interest in forest gardening and who want to learn about this system of sustainable polycultures but are also willing to do whatever is needed. We are particularly interested in having PDC graduates who want to take their learning from the theoretical into the practical.
Our work is very seasonal so it may be that at certain times of the year we will be doing only one or two tasks, that is part of our lifestyle and the nature of living with the seasons but we always try to ensure that volunteers get experience in different areas.
Contact us to see if we have spaces.
Please note - our busiest times, and when we most need help, are in the Autumn and Spring. We accept only a few volunteers during the summer.
Please be aware that we are vegetarian/vegan and we try to live from the land so our diet is usually governed by what we have grown or stored. This means you will have to be adaptable with your diet.
